Full Description

The fast, aggressive lines of the Focke Wulf Fw190A are beautifully captured in this Bryan Taylor RC model plan. The big two-sheet plan is for a very accurate 60.25 inch wingspan scale model featuring working flaps and retractable undercarriage. Like all Brian Taylor’s award-winning plans, this one is not for beginners.

When it appeared in the skies over occupied France in 1941, the fast, heavily armed Focke Wulf Fw190A earned the name ‘Butcher Bird’ among RAF pilots who suddenly found their Spitfire V’s outclassed - a position that persisted until they were re-equipped with the Spitfire IX in1942. Fw190’s were used in all theatres of WWII in many different versions, including fighter, ground attack and reconnaissance. In 1944 the re-engined Fw190D re-established parity but, like most other German weapon developments at the time, they were by then so outnumbered by allied forces that they could have little real impact.

The model is of conventional all-wood construction. A laser-cut wood-pack is available which contains most of the shaped parts needed such as fuselage formers and wing ribs, but you will need additional sheet and strip wood and ply to complete the model, as well as all the hardware needed. A moulded plastic cockpit canopy and engine cowling are available for this model, as well an aluminium propeller spinner. The model was designed to be powered by a .60 cu in two-stroke engine, but experienced modellers could probably convert it to electric power if desired.

The set includes: Plan Laser cut wood pack ABS clear canopy Fibre glass cowl Aluminium Spinner Set Building your model from a Traplet 'Laser Wood Pack' semi-kit removes the need to trace and cut your own intricate parts. It will be necessary to purchase additional sheet and strip wood from your local model shop to complete the model. Please note when buying a wood pack, you will have to purchase additional strip wood from your local model store to complete the model.
