Robin Fowler’s 1:5 scale (112" span) electric twin ‘feederliner’ for inexpensive outrunner motors and 5-function R/C. Construction is all wood from the three very large and well-detailed plan sheets and details split flaps. Building your model from a Traplet 'Laser Wood Pack' semi-kit removes the need to trace and cut your own intricate parts. It will be necessary to purchase additional sheet and strip wood from your local model shop to complete the model.

Designed by Robin Fowler, this plan builds into an impressive 112” (2845mm) span 1/5th scale model of the elegant pre-war Percival Q.6 Petrel airliner and military communications aircraft. The 3-sheet plan includes full details of installing elevators, ailerons, rudder, flaps, motors and fixed undercarriage.
The Percival Q.6 was designed as a civil transport aircraft and first flew in 1937. A small number of the 27 aircraft built were exported, but the rest were registered in the UK, with 7 being purchased for use by the RAF and RN as a communications aircraft and named Petrel. During WWII all but one of the UK civil registered Q.6’s were also requisitioned for military use. After the war the Q.6’s and Petrels were sold to civilian buyers and were used by small airlines, as executive transports and by private pilots. Today only one Q.6 survives, which is undergoing restoration to flying condition. Note that this plan illustrates the fixed-undercarriage version. Some Q.6’s were built with retractable undercarriage.
The model is of conventional all-wood construction. A laser-cut wood-pack is available which contains most of the shaped parts needed such as fuselage formers and wing ribs, but you will need additional sheet and strip wood and ply to complete the model, as well as all the hardware needed. Note that this plan illustrates the fixed-undercarriage version. Some Q.6’s were built with retractable undercarriage.The model was designed to be powered by an 8000mAh 3S LiPo battery driving a pair of TowerPro 3520-670 rpm/V electric motors.
